Hamnet and One Battle After Another emerged as the top film winners at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, while Netflix’s Adolescence dominated the television categories, as the film and TV industry gathered in Los Angeles to honor the past year’s standout work.
Film standouts
In the film races, Hamnet won Best Motion Picture – Drama, with Jessie Buckley also taking Best Actress in a Drama for her performance in the film. One Battle After Another claimed Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and proved to be one of the night’s most decorated titles, with Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Director and Best Screenplay, and Teyana Taylor earning Best Supporting Actress.
International and genre films also made a strong showing. The Secret Agent won Best Non-English Language Film, while KPop Demon Hunters picked up Best Animated Film and Best Original Song for “Golden.” Ryan Coogler’s Sinners won Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and later scored Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.
In the acting categories, Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme, while Rose Byrne took Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Stellan Skarsgård won Best Supporting Actor for Sentimental Value. The Best Actor – Drama award went to Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent.
On the television side, HBO’s The Pitt won Best Drama Series, with Noah Wyle also taking Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in the medical drama. The Studio claimed Best Comedy or Musical Series, while Netflix’s Adolescence won Best Limited Series and multiple acting awards, including Best Actor in a Limited Series for Stephen Graham and both supporting categories for Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper.
Performance wins
Individual performances were also recognized across streaming platforms. Rhea Seehorn won Best Actress – Drama Series for Pluribus, while Jean Smart picked up Best Actress – Comedy or Musical Series for Hacks. Seth Rogen won Best Actor – Comedy or Musical Series for The Studio. Michelle Williams earned Best Actress – Limited Series for Dying for Sex.
The ceremony also highlighted the growing influence of comedy and audio formats. Ricky Gervais won Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance for Mortality. In a new category introduced this year, Best Podcast went to Good Hang with Amy Poehler, marking the Golden Globes’ first formal recognition of podcasting.
