Der Pavilion, a groundbreaking cultural platform, is set to launch on January 29 and run through March 1, in St. Moritz, Switzerland, featuring a series of solo exhibitions by leading figures in contemporary art and design.
Founded by Giorgio Pace, the visionary behind Giorgio Pace Projects and co-founder of Nomad, Der Pavilion is conceived as a living cultural ecosystem rather than a conventional fair.
Immersive experience
Unlike traditional short-term events, Der Pavilionās four-week, residency-style exhibitions are designed to foster sustained engagement, offering artists, designers, and collectors deeper access and visibility.
Rotating artworks, private appointments, and intimate hosted events will encourage a reflective and immersive experience that captures the full rhythm of the St. Moritz winter season.
Pace aims to establish a year-round cultural presence, blending exhibitions, performances, craftsmanship, and gastronomy into a continuous network that connects local communities with international artists, galleries, and institutions.
The inaugural edition will take place at the former Hotel Eden, with thoughtfully redesigned spaces, while plans for a permanent architectural structure will provide a future home for ongoing exhibitions, performances, and gatherings in the Engadin.
Creative movement
Programming highlights include contemporary art and design presentations, a dedicated section for contemporary jewelry, opera performances at the private theatre of the Badrutt Palace Hotel, and a flower and garden show celebrating local craftsmanship and the Engadin community.
Pace emphasizes that Der Pavilion is meant to grow organically throughout the year, creating a cultural rhythm that is both local and global.
āSt. Moritz needs something more cultural that can extend beyond the winter season,ā Pace said. āDer Pavilion is a movement ā connecting artists, galleries, and the local community in an ongoing cultural dialogue, rooted in the landscape yet open to the world.ā
Following its winter debut, Der Pavilion will continue with seasonal programs celebrating the craftsmanship, creativity, and community spirit of the Engadin, offering galleries, brands, and cultural institutions an invitation to join a model of exchange based on continuity, collaboration, and cultural excellence.
